Neopure pure steam generators are available in two versions: units heated by plant steam via a double-tubesheet (DTS) heat exchanger, designed to evaporate purified water to produce dry, saturated steam free of non-condensable gases; and—for laboratories lacking a plant steam supply—electrically heated units that deliver the same steam quality.
Pure steam is used in the pharmaceutical industry primarily for the sterilization of products, materials, and equipment (SIP), and in some cases, for the humidification of cleanrooms.
Tanks and heat exchangers: AISI-316 L
Piping, valves, and instrumentation: AISI-316 L
Skid/Frame: AISI-304
The generator and all its components are mounted on a base frame made of AISI 304 stainless steel, designed so that two sides remain accessible; this allows the generator to be positioned near a corner without hindering maintenance.
It consists of a heat exchanger passing through a double tube sheet at both ends, along with an expansion chamber, all mounted on a column made of AISI 316L stainless steel. The bottom of the column is sealed with a dished head (Klöpper type), while the top features a flanged cover.
The heat exchanger tubes—seamless AISI 316L stainless steel—are expanded into the double tube sheets at both ends, ensuring a crack-free fit and promoting a longer service life. Tube surfaces in contact with pure steam and demineralized water feature a mechanical polish (180 grit finish), resulting in a surface roughness of Ra < 0.64 µm.
Demineralized water and the generated pure steam flow inside the tubes, while the heating steam (plant steam) flows across the exterior. The unit features external thermal insulation (60 mm rock wool) clad in satin-finish AISI 304 stainless steel. This design complies with GMP requirements for equipment where the "dirty" fluid operates at a higher pressure than the process fluid.
Non-proprietary components (Gemü, Siemens, Festo, SMC)
Systems designed to produce dry, saturated steam free from non-condensable gases for sterilization, SIP and other pharmaceutical applications.
